Mr. TSEGAYE Mesfin Mengesha <mtsegaye2-c at my.cityu.edu.hk>
Mr. Mesfin received a bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences and a Master’s degree in Microbiology from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, in 2007 and also a master’s degree in Aquatic Ecology from Bremen University, Germany, in 2009.
Before joining Dr. Yuan’s modelling group as PhD student, Mesfin worked at Ethiopian Public Health Institute in virology research team as a research associate. He was involved in laboratory surveillance activities of influenza, virological and serological investigation of outbreaks caused by arbo viruses such as dengue fever and yellow fever viruses, and also on sero prevalence studies of these viruses in Ethiopia.
Currently, his research topics focus on modelling of dengue fever using climate variables and understanding virus evolution and phylogenetics of dengue viruses that caused outbreaks.
